X Seminario
El Son Jarocho y Otras Culturas

April 23rd-30th, 2011
Rancho Luna Negra, Isla de Tacamichapan, Jáltipan Veracruz

To Whom It May Concern:

We are a group of community members, musicians, organizers, activist, students, and teachers from the greater Los Angeles Region and the San Fernando Valley collectively working reaching our goal to participate in a seminar for Son Jarocho music/culture in Rancho Luna Negra, Isla de Tacamichapan, Jaltipan Veracruz.

Being able to participate in this delegation to learn and exchange with the organizers and participants will contribute to growth of Son Jarocho knowledge and community in the greater Los Angeles region and San Fernando Valley.

We are currently working on organizing fundraiser events to assist us in helping to fund our travels to attend the seminario in Veracruz, Mexico. We are currently shooting for a goal of raising $4,000 dollars to fund delegates’ registration and airfare. We are reaching out to you as a fellow community member asking for support. We are asking for anything from sponsorship monetary donations to donations of basic items we may need to organize events such as selling food for brunch, lunch, or dinner sales. Some items you can donate include: cups, plates, tostadas, rice, beans, silverware, items to raffle, beverages, decorations.

As a collective of various people, we aspire to attend this seminario in Veracruz to come back to our respective communities and share what we have learned. Upon arrival we will serve as liaisons to contribute and organize workshops and dialogues as part of the exchange with peoples and communities who support us in our endeavors. We thank you for your time and for your support.
